NASHUA, NH – velocityHUB, a leading provider of business consulting and professional training services, is looking forward to starting a partnership with Providence College this January, via velocityHUB’s collegiate leadership program, the Victory Academy. In 2018, the Victory team will work closely with coaches, SAAC leaders, team captains and the entire sophomore class of emerging leaders. The newly established Mandell-Boisclair Leadership Academy will offer leadership development opportunities to student-athletes across all of the 19 Division I Sports.
PC is proud of its athletic success. In recent years, the Friars have had teams ranked among the top 20 nationwide in several sports, including men’s basketball, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s soccer, field hockey and men’s & women’s cross country. Academically, Providence College has a graduation rate of 94-percent for its student athletes, one of the highest in the nation for Division I schools.
The Friars Athletic Department strives to fulfill student-athlete needs and goals in an environment steeped in the Dominican tradition in which honesty, integrity, mutual respect, effort and constant improvement are cherished and cultivated. By partnering with the Victory Academy, PC Athletics is showing its commitment to supporting the personal development of their student-athletes and providing them with the tools and environment to help them realize and maximize their leadership potential.
Providence College student-athletes will gather for five unique leadership workshops across the course of the upcoming academic year. The academy will cover a range of impactful individual and team leadership topics. Specific areas of focus will include leadership styles, productivity, goal setting, communication, teamwork, mental toughness, social media excellence, common team leader hurdles, and many others. They will be given tools and strategies to develop personal leadership profiles and learn ways to leverage their athletic experience, to become confident leaders on and off the field. The Academy will also incorporate specific training from the velocityHUB offering built for executives, professionals and emerging leaders in companies large and small, from Fortune 100 to Inc. 500 businesses.
Robert G. Driscoll, Jr., Director of Athletics, is enthusiastic about the new partnership with Victory Academy. “We are committed to creating and maintaining a student-centered department by offering a suite of programs and services to promote personal growth and leadership skills. Victory Academy will build our athletes knowledge and understanding of the world around them and how they conduct themselves as positive role models and agents of social change. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Mark Mandell and Yvette Boisclair ’84 who have generously funded this program, which will be referred to as the Mandell-Boisclair Leadership Academy.”
